Do dancers go to college?
Professional dance is an endeavor for the young. The rigorous physical demands generally mean a relatively short professional performing career. This means that most professionals begin their career right after high school and defer their college education until they retire from performing or take a reduced class load, or online classes and finish college while they are still performing. A few professional companies have even made arrangements for company members to attend an adjunct university while performing with them. Some students go directly into the university setting and work towards a fine arts degree and some just continue taking classes for their own enjoyment.
