Jason Davis was accepted into San Francisco Ballet School in 1992, after attending Kirov Academy of Ballet, and joined the company one year later. For eleven seasons, Jason danced with the San Francisco Ballet, where he performed classic ballets and originated works by choreographers including: Mark Morris, Stanton Welch, Yuri Possokov, James Kudelka, William Forsythe, and Helgi Tomasson, and others. Jason has been teaching ballet for over 15 years and is a licensed teacher by the state of Oregon. In addition to his regular teaching duties at The Portland Ballet, he also heads the Men’s program, serves as Principal for the academy and Ballet Master for the youth company. Jason currently teaches at Arts and Communication Magnet Academy in Beaverton and is the Ballet Master for Dance West, the academy’s youth company. He also serves on the faculty for the Northwest Dance Project. In summers, Jason teaches on faculties throughout the western United States and directs the dance department for Young Musicians and Artists Summer Program. Choreographing for Vancouver Dance Theatre, Jason has directed full length productions of Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake Act 3, and Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra. He has also restaged and choreographed numerous pieces for The Portland Ballet and Dance West.
