In 1994, Dmitri Roudnev founded Ballet Intensive from Moscow in order to bring together the best master teachers of Vaganova each year for a student workshop and teacher seminar. Roudnev develops his curriculum to reflect his experiences as a student and soloists of the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet. He loved the logical combinations and the musicality of Bolshoi classes and he conveys these feelings in his lessons. Roudnev presents complicated barre exercises, based in the great Russian Method training traditions, that are easy for student and teacher to learn. This, in turn, helps develop students with clean technique, elongated non-bulky muscles, and high extensions. Teachers have found that the strength built in Roudnev’s approach promotes less chance of injury. Dmitri Roudnev trained for eight years at the renowned Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia, and later danced as soloist with the Bolshoi Ballet under the direction of the great U.N.Grigorovich. Roudnev served as the director of the Dmitri Roudnev Ballet School of Chicago for seven years. He developed a special ballet training program for the skating pair that took 4th place in the 2002 Olympics. Roudnev is also the Artistic director of the USA National Youth Ballet Competition presented by Russian Pointe. Roudnev founded the highly regarded Roudnev Youth Ballet in 2005 for the dedicated dancers of Memphis, Tn. in order to bring a new type training to city that rarely sees the Russian Method. In the summer of 2016, Dmitri took his Roudnev Youth Ballet syllabus beyond the mid-south area with great success and hopes to share his mastery of ballet with people who share his same love of ballet to dancers of all ages across the United States.
